What is a Punctuation ?

Ans:-Punctuation is stops/ pauses in our speech to make a new meaning or change the meaning of a sentence.

1.   How many marks/stops/pauses are there ?

     Ans:-There are several marks . They are called punctuation marks / symbols. 

    Where do we use these punctuation marks?

     Ans: - These marks are directly and automatically used in our speaking and writing.

     EXAMPLES

     Punctuate the following paragraph.

     ram is a good boy aren’t you a good boy what good boys ram hari and shyam are

    Ans. Ram is a good boy. Aren’t you a good boy ? What good boys Ram, Hari and Shyam are ?

2.  Different punctuation marks.

1. Full stop  ( . )  2.  Comma ( , )  3.  Question mark ( ? ) 4. Exclamation mark ( ! )

3.   Capital letters (A B C …X Y Z)  6. Inverted comma ( ‘….’)( single inverted )

Double inverted ( “……..” )  7.  Colon ( : )  8. Semi-colon ( ; )

Question marks is called Marks of interrogation

Home work:- 

1. Go through the lesson ‘The Little Fir Tree’. Underline the punctuation marks with a pencil.
