GERUND
What is gerund?
The gerund is that part of the verb that ends in -ing and is used as a verbal noun.
EXAMPLES:
Complaining will not help matters. ( as a subject)
Most boys like playing football. (as an object)
His chief fault is idling his time away. (as a complement)
The motorist was fined for exceeding the speed limit. (governed by a preposition)
apposition to an anticipatory 'it
It is foolish wasting your money like that.
It is no use, waiting for him.
It was fun, watching the children play.
Homework
Take 5 verbs of your choice and use it in its gerund form as a subject, as an object and as a complement. (Two sentences from each)
