What are Determiners?

Answer:

Determiners are words that come before nouns. They help us know which noun we are talking about and how many.

👉 Example:
a book, the pen, my bag

Important Notes:

Singular nouns always need a determiner.

✔️ a cat, the boy

Plural nouns may or may not need a determiner.

✔️ books / the books

Uncountable nouns sometimes use determiners, depending on the meaning.

✔️ some water, much sugar

Types of Determiners

Complete the introduction given below to the story The Story Teller by Saki (H. H. Munro), by using ‘a’, ‘an’ or ‘the’.

In the carriage were a small girl, (d) ______ smaller girl, and a small boy.
